That’s a very dumb name, but I really like the simple design and earth tone color of the bar itself.
On the other hand I don’t think I’d like to smell like beer.

It needs a port that you can attach your bag of caffeinated noodles to.
Did they add the sand worms to this game yet?
I think you may have misread their comment.
Pretty good track record with videogames too.
I agree to some extent, as there are plenty of distros that don’t do anything significantly different from each other and don’t need to exist. I also see what you mean about desktop environments. While I think there’s space for all the small exotic window managers that exist, I would say we probably don’t need as many big fully integrated desktop environments as there are now. (Maybe we should have only one aimed at modern hardware and one designed to be lightweight.)
That being said, there is plenty of duplication of effort within commerical software too. I would argue that if commercial desktop GUIs currently offer a better user experience than Linux desktop environments it’s more in spite of their development model than because of it, and their advantage has mostly to do with companies being able to pay developers to work full time (instead of relying on donations and volunteers).
There are a couple reasons I think this:
Generally I think open source software has a really nice combination of cooperation and competition. The competition encourages experimentation and innovation while the cooperation eliminates duplicated effort (by letting competitors copy each other if they so choose).
I vibe with this a lot. I don’t think the movie needed to exist in the first place, and if it did it would probably be better if it were fully animated, but nothing about the trailer provoked any strong emotions in me.
I’m not going to watch it but I also didn’t go “wow this is an insult and a tragedy”.
I guess I’m happy for all the tiny children that are gonna watch it and probably love it though.
The ads are subliminally manipulating the sort function of my spreadsheet that calculates the unit cost of every product in a category.
CRI is defined as how closely a light source matches the spectral emission of a thing glowing at a specific temperature. So, for a light source with a 4000 k color temperature its CRI describes how closely its emission matches that of an object that’s been heated to 4000 k.
Because incandescent bulbs emit light by heating a filament by definition they will have 100 CRI and its impossible to get any better than that. But the emission curve of incandescent lights doesn’t actually resemble that of sunlight at all (sorry for the reddit link). The sun is much hotter than any incandescent bulb and it’s light is filtered by our atmosphere, resulting in a much flatter more gently sloping emission curve vs the incandescent curve which is extremely lopsided towards the red.
As you can see in the above link, there are certain high end LED bulbs that do a much better job replicating noon day sunlight than incandescents. And that flatter emissions profile probably provides better color rendering (in terms of being able to distinguish one color from another) than the incandescent ramp.
Now, whether or not you want your bulbs to look like the noon day sun is another matter. Maybe you don’t want to disrupt your sleep schedule and you’d much rather their emissions resemble the sunset or a campfire (though in that case many halogen and high output incandescent lamps don’t do a great job either). Or maybe you’re trying to treat seasonal depression and extra sunlight is exactly what you want. But in any case I think CRI isn’t a very useful unit (another reddit link).
Damn Small Linux can run a graphical desktop environment with as little as 16 MB of RAM (although 24 is recommended).
That really makes me want to see a Wii with a mouse and keyboard plugged in displaying a spreadsheet or something. Unfortunately DSL only supports x86. Theoretically it could be ported to PPC like Void Linux was, though I don’t know if all the tweaks they did to make the kernel and pre-installed packages as small as possible would make that harder.

It’s just a silly name for DPI, but it does exist.

I mean it’s basically anything that massively affects your living situation or how you outwardly present / function as a person.
Want to live in a hole in the desert, or a cabin in the woods, or in a semi-legal squat? It would be pretty hard to maintain a relationship with a partner whose not also into living that way.
Want to convert the interior of your house to look like a Star Trek set? Better find someone that wants to live on the USS Enterprise.
Are you into extreme body modification? Better find someone whose alright with their partner surgically altering themselves to look like a Klingon.
There are also plenty of interests that are just risky or disruptive, like doing urban exploration, running a home chemistry lab, building tesla coils, etc. Tesla coils are just loud, urban exploration can get you arrested (though it’s unlikely anything of consequence will actually happen to you), and two of the amateur chemistry YouTube channels I watch have been raised by the police because the amount of glassware they bought set off an alarm (neither of them were charged with anything though). If you do any of those and your partner isn’t interested in them at all I can’t imagine that not being a pain point, considering that risk/disruption is also on top of you spending significant time / energy / cash on a hobby they have nothing to do with.
Finally, there are more benign hobbies like through hiking or immersive historical reenactment where, if your partner’s not coming with you, they’d have to be okay with you disappearing for weeks at a time and not being able to talk to them.
I think you might be underestimating the intensity of some people’s interests and how much of their being is defined by them, especially non-neurotypical people.
EDIT: Like, if you live in a van with solar panels on the roof you should probably find a partner that’s also cool living inside a van.
If you spend a significant stints at home wearing a fursuit, you should probably find a partner that enjoys or at least doesn’t mind living with what looks like an anthropomorphic furry creature.
If you regularly consume large doses of halcinogens to explore the limits of human consciousness you should probably find a partner that’s doesn’t mind hearing about how you saw an infinite blade made of time that slices the present moment into two parts: the past and the future.
Absent the effect of gravity hair strands have a tendency to straighten and spread out. Usually astronauts with long hair tie it up, but there are some pictures showing what this looks like:
Makes me wonder whether that’s depicted in the manga.
Sorry I took so long to reply
Anyway, yeah, like I said earlier I don’t really have a problem with small dick jokes or the phrase as such. Like you said it doesn’t really affect an underprivileged group, although I think in certain uses it definitely is toxically masculine.
I was replying to you not really because of that, but rather because I’ve seen the same reasoning, literally almost word for word as what you wrote in a few of your earlier comments, used to justify the use of slurs. Like I said I really wish teenaged me had been exposed to the point of view I’ve been trying to convey. Because of that it’s a mode of thinking I really want to try to ward people away from, even if in this case it was used in regards to something fairly innocuous.
You’ve got me pegged lol, I already make my own.
