The problem with DA2 was that it was a decent game but a bad sequel. I’ve come to appreciate it but when I first played it I was incredibly disappointed. I did not want a personal narrative, I wanted freedom to role-play.

Hamas did not lead any peace talks worth a damn and their “armed resistance” has only ever consisted of attacks on civilians, usually by firing missiles at settlements in unambiguously Israeli territory (attacking military installations or even settlements in the West Bank would’ve been at least somewhat defensible, but that’s not what they’ve been doing) and then hiding behind their own civilian population to hinder Israeli retaliation, getting them killed in the process. They also did all that from Gaza, an area that Israel de-occupied after the Second Intifada, and which could have served as a positive example of peaceful Palestinian self-government and eventually independence instead of the opposite.

Hamas has set the Palestinian cause back by decades. They’re important in the same way cancer is important to the human body.

They want women afraid. The doctors are just collateral damage. It’s not about children and it never was (if they cared about cheap labour and disposable soldiers they’d embrace immigration instead), it’s about controlling women.

No need for anything particularly modern. Even on a ten year old laptop I’ve not noticed a difference (Windows, on the other hand, barely runs at all on that machine).

Brutalism is brutalism for capitalism. It was a highly influential architectural movement on both sides of the iron curtain (and I’m pretty sure it got started in capitalist France).

And he’s been an asshole before too, I think the façade really started to crack when he was told that his mini submarine was useless (of course one could argue that the fact that the first thing Musk’s mind went to when he wanted to disparage someone was “paedo” is rather telling).

As a general rule: don’t expect perfection. Some things will suck, and if you go in expecting everything to be perfect you’ll be disappointed. Also, wherever you go is still a normal place, filled with normal people, living normal lives. Don’t be a nuisance to the locals, and don’t expect/demand anyone not working in hospitality to go out of their way on your behalf (and even people working in hospitality, the “the customer is always right” mentality isn’t a thing everywhere).

I’d be very surprised if the number of actual cases hasn’t increased. Western, Ukrainian and other allied intelligence services have almost certainly increased their activities in Russia since the war began. They’d be terrible at their jobs if they hadn’t.

Edit - this doesn’t mean that the trials aren’t shams, or that the regime doesn’t use false accusations and evidence to rid itself of opposition.

A patch that was announced over a year before it went up, and that people who play on consoles very much did ask for. I’m not happy about it being forced on PC either, but come on, there was no malicious intent here.

I’m right with you on Stardew Valley. Might be because I’m a city kid but I just can’t connect with the game. I know that it’s supposed to be “cosy” but my idea of cosy is a downtown apartment, not a farm. It just doesn’t work for me.

While this may be technologically trivial for a society that can build a functional generation ship, the timescales for such projects (literally hundreds or even thousands of years from the launch of the probe to the yes/no signal) makes it extremely difficult to actually organise.
