  • I just assume that anything owned by a tech corporation is actively spying on me with anything they got. And I think it is reasonable to assume so, specially when they have weird stuff in the EULA(as I believe discord has). So yeah twitter reddit discord, android, windows what have you, are probably gathering as much data as they can and selling it for as much as they can get.

  • I think this type of question is much too premature, we are strggling with how to create a persistent revolutionary organization in Latin America, and before we see the answer of that, trying to answer how said organization is gonna succeed is little more than guesswork, which is fine, if understood as that, imagining some possibility of future can be useful, but it should not be used as a map to be followed too closely for we don’t know for which type of vehicle we are charting the map yet.

  • As @LarkinDePark said you are not a super hero, you don’t have to carry that burden on your back, the fact that you’re here on grad looking to inform yourself, is already a very big step, you are concerned and revolted by the situation of the world, good, actually very good. Keep finding means to provide for you and your family, and if and when you have more available time or money, try to figure out good ways of organizing, see if there are any collectives around you or something like it. Because in my eyes the best thing comrades everywhere can do is to work on the revolution on their own land, however far it is. The deaths in Gaza and Congo, the deaths by hunger and disease are not gonna stop no matter how many individual conflicts we solve, capitalism will keep killing more and more in the most varied ways. And that is sickening, you have that right, but our job is to group up with people round us, and help people around us, and share our knowledge with people most hurt by this system, to offer them an alternative. So in the future, even if we don’t know how far in said future, we along with the masses revolt and take down our opression. And then the world will have another force that will stand against future Gaza and Congos and whatever new horrors capitalism comes up with.

Just know comrade you’re doing your best, I’m proud of you, I applaud your indignation with the situation, but first you need to take care of you and yours, and your mental health. Once you can take a breather you think about heeding the bulk of my advice, cause we don’t want you to break under overwhelming pressure, we want you as happy and motivated as you can be, then you’ll be much more productive to the revolution, just know that you and your family matters, even if horrible things are happening elsewhere you folk still matter. Do what you can comrade, just not at your own expense.

  • I think it’s not a good look to say you’ll shoot a classmate, even in hypothetical, I think it was better dismissing the hypothetical as nonsense, which it is, answering it with the question, would you condemn your population to violence and hunger? Otherwise yeah it’s not wrong to have that stance just think you could go about it a little more gracefully, cause one problem is that when we are THE communist some people know they’ll judge communism based on US and the optics of how you went about it might lead them to believe communists are more trigger happy then they are.

  • The similarities with socialism has to do with what I believe that they come from the same source, the oppression of capitalism, that leads them to feel, accurately that there is something really wrong, but they have the necessary cognitive dissonance to feel the issues of capitalism but also love the system, therefore the answers communists give must be worng, so they need to fabricate a fantastic and flexible explanation that allows them to stay right wing and enraged, fascism serves a similar purpose to the upkeep of the system

  • Comrade, never think your issues are not important because there are bigger things going on, your needs exist and taking care of each other runs deep to the core of our ideology, so do not apologise or feel shame about talking about what you feel, this community is for that after all, so rest easy knowing that you are welcome and your worries are worth talking about, and I wish you best of luck in your new journey exploring other parts of human interaction.

  • I think saying a definitely not, may be too hard a swing to the other side as well, the revolution is always our goal and I believe there is always room for hope, might be further in the future of closer to the present, but it should always be on the horizon, and who knows, revolutions are very hard to predict, situations change opportunities come along unexpectedly, but my problem with the parameter the comrade used for measuring likelyhood of such is electoral, and popularity of parties are not the best of measurements, the organization of the population I think is the best one, and burkina faso seems to have people supporting the anti imperialist movement there, but in Greece, the popularity of a party does not necessarily mean the population is organizing towards a change, it is a start but a timid one if you ask me, but it’s always nice to see. Again the road we need to build pave and walk on is the organization of the people, it needs to come from the ones on the base of the system, while the ones most affected by the exploitation are still blind by capitalism’s shining lights it is never going to be a revolution, the job of the ones of us ML’s that are not in that situation is to befriend support and help those that are, to find the shades and see that the lights hide their own oppression and the fact that they are strong, and have all the tools to build their own freedom.

  • I don’t know about the no good cops thing, but I get the institution pressuring people, but I still think that good people in sufficient numbers can make the gears start grinding a little and making it less oppressive. I am fully aware that the police institution is the boot and cannot be reformed from the inside, but having good people there can be a way to diminish some harm, at least I believe that.

And about soldiers, if you look into the history of Venezuela when soldiers where sent to oppress some neighborhoods many soldiers including Hugo Chavez defected and started to defend the neighborhood, so I think that there is material evidence that things are not that cut and dried as you suggest.

  • As for being a cop, I think there is not much problem with it, it is important to separate the institution of the people on it, and furthermore, if everyone with left leaning thinking goes away from cops/army, the corps get more and more entrenched in liberal right wing thought. The average cop is a workforce person, there is value on going into those spaces and trying to make a change, even if slowly, I don’t see it as a problem. As far as the 3 letter agencies, those are rougher, because there is no pretense there, you will be actually charged of fucking everybody for the sake of the state, so yeah, I can see very little opportunity to do good on those agencies, but being a cop and/or soldier I see the value. I do think that good people being cops are a good thing, it is a corrupt organization that serves to uphold the exploitation of the proletariat, sure, but can be a slightly less bad corrupt organization, with the right people occupying the right spots.

  • As I said on my other comment I think that the issue is on the phrasing, cause when you say “unpopular opinion I don’t like public transit” it seems like you don’t like the idea of making public transit the norm, if you said I don’t like my local public transit it would be clearer and not even be considered an unpopular opinion my public transit sucks as well, bur I think the solution is a better one rather then individual transport. That said it is not in the least unreasonable to invest in personal transport while it still sucks, it’s you making your life easier there’s nothing wrong with that, but I still would recommend to advocate pro a better one when and where it would be appropriate

  • Correction, you don’t like the current state of your public transit, which often are bad by design to make cars more appealing, especially if you’re in the US since that nation kinda built a lot of wealth on top of the car industry. Public transit can be good but it has to be made a priority, which I think in your local region it is not. If it is possible and something that you have a previous interest of doing, traveling to a place with a more robust public transit infrastructure could maybe give you a broader perspective
