  • No it wasn’t. Zionism itself emerged as a response to what people like Churchill saw as “Judeo-Bolshevism”. He doesn’t use the word “Judeo”, but he makes his feelings quite clear in his anti-semitic screed titled “Good Jews and Bad Jews” in which he singles out Jewish leaders as being the source of a plot to “overthrow civilization”. Leaders like Theodor Herzl also sought the allyship of Antisemitic czarists like Von Plehve on the basis that Zionism would be a counterweight to the Bolshevik party.

The reimagining of Israel as some socialist/ leftists commune was revisionism from actors like Ben-Gurion who wanted to shy away from the brazenness of zionist leaders like Vladimir Jabotinsky. Just as in Nazi Germany, the mantle of socialism was simply picked up because of it’s popular appeal. Even the supposed communal kibbutzes today are being privatized.

  • Hi thanks for the lengthy write up!

I definitely bombed the test 🥴… Im gonna withdraw from the class because I’d rather not get dragged down by the grade. It sucks because I was already late to the class by like 2 weeks, so it was constant catch up on top of organizing, the gym, and hanging out. I bombed 3/3 exams and missed a few in person labs, so yeah…

I definitely wasn’t watching the lecture or even the book until a test came around the corner smh. I can’t even really say other things took priority because a lot of the time was spent procrastinating 💀.

I had a standard lab with lecture broken up over the course of a week, and other asynchronous classes. The in person was the main blunder.

  • I used to not follow any people in my party, and not even follow my party on social media, but after everything in Palestine, it’s become crystally apparent that normalizing socialism in the minds of your peers is gonna take a lot on our parts. Most importantly though, it helps to know there are normal everyday people who are socialists. TBF, for the friends in my life who do know about my political life, I don’t tell them I’m a Marxist Leninist per se, but I am open about being a socialist to them. I’ve been able to China and even North Korea-pill 2 of my close friends.

Besides a select few subreddits, the discussion around Palestine is really awful and alienating. I’ve been attending protests and whatnot for the past few weeks, and I’ve yet to encounter a single person who says the kinda stuff people are saying about Palestine on the internet. You’re probably doing yourself a favor by avoiding it. I sometimes engage with zionists online, but i’m always hostile about it and very unrelenting 😊. Probably not the best use of one’s time, things must be explained. Pick and choose your battles of course.

  • but it is an exaggeration to refer to Zionism per se as fascist. Rather, Zionism is colonialist

Seems like a bit of a chicken vs the egg scenario. I get that “fascism” might have a specific scientific definition, but does it ultimately matter if Zionism is only achievable through the removal of Palestinian people from their land?

Also, the ambitiousness/ the lack thereof of the Zionist regime doesn’t really seem as important in determining whether zionism is inherently fascist or not. At that point, we’d be left with splitting hairs about every invasion/ foreign assassination/ destabilization Israeli has carried out.

I mean, Israel has outlawed Jewish-Arab antiwar rallies as well, and they do repress the Antizionist Jews in Israel. They’re not necesarilly “proletariat” party rallies/ bases, but they are ultimately more progressive than what is currently in the current regime. Even then, I’m sure communists in Israel-proper get visits from the IDF we don’t hear about.

  • I’m more tired and busy than I’ve ever been with party work + normal life, but it’s all very worth it. I don’t know what else to do after all. I’ve been trying to ensure I do take care of my other responsibilities as well though. It’s just been straight march after march after march after forum after march, but who am I to complain when people over the world are fighting for their Liberation, and paying the ultimate price?

I’ve been able to get a close friend of mine into more party events, and so it’s good to have people to discuss Socialism with IRL outside of organizing. I recently discovered someone I knew in Highschool is a zionist 🤮🤢, and was posting nonstop zionist garbage. The tragic thing is that they were the child of a South American immigrant, smh. I don’t know what the line is between working with someone where they are VS being actively hostile to them.

I had an unfortunate experience with someone I was seeing casually for a bit, and that’s been quite a learning experience. I luckily have a supportive support system I think, so we’ll see how things pan out.

Glad to hear you’re doing okay, and the party work you’re up to sounds very exciting :). I’m debating if I want to start posting pictures of events and stuff that I go to on here, but I’m mulling it over…

  • Probably the 2nd worst experience of my life tbh. It feels like your chest wants to sink into your stomach all the time. I don’t think I would’ve been able to go back to hooking up that fast after 7 years (not a personal judgement, just making an assessment of myself). It took my like 2 years to even want to look at a real person in a sexual way. As the days go on, you start to think of them less and less, but they never really do go away. Thinking about them just becomes a bit easier when they do pop into your mind.

If you can find therapy, take it. Otherwise, just take things a day at a time, and just my personal recommendation, but delete all dating apps and just be by yourself for a bit.
