With border security legislation unlikely in Congress, the White House wants to take action. Migrant crossings are expected to soar back to last year’s record levels.
Progressives get pulled out of the closet every election season to get fucked up over how they either potentially sabotaged the Democrats or actually did, regardless that’s it always false.
I’d actually say the blame rests with the Democrats in power as a whole (and extends from our broken electoral system). The DNC is still running primaries, it’s just that the only challengers are no names so there’s no debates and no real chance of an alternative. Big name progressives (or even normie Dems who don’t believe in performative cruelty at the border) are all too scared that saying Biden is bad in any way might make Trump win. The Republicans tried to run a primary where no one criticized the presumptive nominee, and surprise surprise, it’s hard to make a case as to why you should be chosen instead without saying the alternative is bad in some way.
I sure wish we could have a parliamentary system so you could vote “lefter than triangulating centrist” without it being more likely to give power to fascists than just knuckling under. Turns out a bunch of young revolutionaries in the 18th century didn’t actually develop a flawless system right out of the box.
No, people jumping to conclusions like this will depress turnout.
The system is absolutely broken and the federal government has to do something. The executive branch is pretty stuck right now and continuing to ignore this while making local/city governments figure this out is going to flip people to the Republicans faster than anything.
I’d love to see more care and aid put into helping asylum seekers but there’s going to be a lot of annoyed people if things like local taxes start to creep up.

Ok, so the executive action is going to massively increase the amount of money and staff available to process migrants, provide transitional services and offer a path to citizenship? Or are they instead going to continue with this farce that brutalizing migrants somehow changes the reality of global poverty that fuels migration?
We have a massive and growing need for more working age people, but rather than embracing an obvious solution to a pressing problem, democrats are going to cave to xenophobic lies.
I would strongly prefer if the federal government stepped in with resources. The current hodge-podge system of letting Texas bus people (among other things) to cities lets the federal government ignore the problem more.
On a humanitarian level, I am disappointed in the Democrats on this and it’s disgusting that Republicans aren’t even trying to help. Wait a few months until they start campaigning on “city services are cut and your paycheck is lower because of the Dems and immigration!”
You need to separate your emotions from what’s going on here if you want to participate in a discussion.
Fact of the matter is, there are limited strings to pull without getting ensnarled in the courts. The courts have a significant number of judges who are eager to block the Biden admin when it does try to do anything useful. Congress has the ability to fix this but they won’t. Technically, Schumer could call a vote and repeal the 60-vote requirement if the Dems wanted to, but then it’ll get trapped in the House.
I do not think it is fair to neglect asylum seekers the way we have been. If you’re aware of some law or statute that gives him a few options to expand the programs, I’ll happily read them to be informed.
Fact of the matter is, most people are not going to care about this as an election issue.
I swear Biden acts more and more like trump every fucking day.
It’s like Brewster’s millions or some shit, he’s going to fuck around, depress turnout, and hand trump the election again.
And there’s not a damn thing we can do about it because the DNC made their choice
biden, the dnc are conservatives. they are the conservative party of today.
we have fascists, conservatives, and progressives. the progressives are kept back in a little closet to keep them from making to much noise.

I forgot, the only time Biden has the power to do anything, is when it disagrees with the party platform…
Fucking weird how that works, huh?
