Is Sync still a thing? I saw you haven’t commented on lemmy for 2 months now. There are no updates here or on the Play Store. Lemmy v0.19 is rapidly coming with breaking changes. Are you prepared for that?

Someone asked him on the discord and new update is coming with the lemmy 0.19 release. Which shouldn’t be too far away now.
Yeah that makes sense, the API changes with 0.19 so it makes sense the will be a fast follow for the app
Makes sense but that’s more than Liftoff users have been given. But maybe they’re working on an update for 0.19 too and just haven’t talked about it.
I can’t speak for the Dev but I am guessing they have other things on the go. Releasing this app as quickly as they did and following up with subsequent releases for bugs and quality of life features probably meant neglecting anything else that wasn’t of major importance.
They are probably getting back on track with that stuff?
LJ has always done development in spurts and its always been worth it
Well, I can confirm I’m using it to write this comment, very smooth experience for me.
I’m using the free version, so far any ads I’ve seen are not intrusive and tbh fairly rare
Also on free version, also haven’t seen a single ad.
However, this long absence that LJ is renowned for highlights the reason paying £100 is too steep for things like Ultra or whatever it’s called.
Tbh I think that pricing level was really only for the long time fans who wanted to significantly contribute.
I am a long time fan, but the price is just too high to justify for me, unfortunately.
That’s a premium tier price tag for less than premium tier service (in the sense of long patches of development silence).
Yeah, I couldn’t justify dropping that much for lifetime but a buck a month I can swing for a bit.
With those prices, the only people who will pay for it are (some) of the long time fans. I can’t believe anyone new to Lemmy will ever go to Sync when there are so many alternatives. Those prices just scare people away. I’m pretty sure he would earn more if it was like $1-2/year.

I use the list view for what it’s worth. I personally like it the best and I get the most content on screen

Yeah, I’ve been pretty disappointed in the development. There are still features listed in “Coming Soon” for Ultra subscribers (of course, the ones I was most interested in), and it’s been a couple months since there was any work on it. The main argument for the (greatly) increased price was entirely focused on developing Sync now, but that does not seem to be the case
I’ve also been waiting for updates on regional pricing for Ultra. I want to support the dev, but can’t justify the price for what is essentially about 10 days worth minimum wage in my country.
Hopefully there’s an update coming before 0.19 comes out and break Sync…
Last time this was asked someone got ahold of him on discord. New Sync update comes when 0.19 officially releases.
I wound up buying Sync twice before. And I have a network wide adblock, so it’s great. Exactly what I had gotten used to with reddit.
However, lemmy is constantly changing and updating, so it’s reasonable to expect the dev to keep up with changes.
