    I am surprised anyone would actually put someone in jail for draft-dodging in this age. Even countries that haven’t banned conscription yet should have the sense not to make celebrities of those who refuse. The Swiss system (higher tax for refusing) seems more reasonable.

      Higher tax for refusing seems like your giving rich people a pass. Unless it was really graduated to take a much higher percentage of higher income?

        The Swiss rich are already taxed, this would make that higher. Hell most countries tax based on income and iirc the Swiss do to.

          Obviously, but the question is what rate would be fair for what incomes/wealth. Because the target would be that the wealth distribution of those passing would be roughly the same as the wealth distribution in the country.
