Summary

Newt Gingrich blasted a Julia Roberts-led ad encouraging women to vote privately, calling it a sign of the sick values he attributes to Democrats. In a heated exchange with Sean Hannity, he accused the party of promoting dishonesty and moral decay in America, suggesting this reflects a broader erosion of societal integrity. Gingrich, who faced his own scandals, cited Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent split from the Democrats as further proof of disillusionment with what he sees as their corrupt influence.

You can take it from Newt Gingrich, who has cheated on two dying wives, an epitome of moral compass that all americans should look towards.

Man who cheated on his first wife while she had cancer and cheated on his second wife while impeaching Bill Clinton for having an affair, rails against the moral depravity of Democrats who encourage women to vote for whoever they want.

Okay can we stop with the whole “Clinton was impeached for an affair.” It was because it was with a staffer he has power over. It was extremely inappropriate. We shouldn’t be cool with men in powerful positions abusing those positions to fuck people they have power over. Monica Lewinsky was literally half Clinton’s age (22 and 49) and was horrifically abused by all of society AND CLINTON and HIS WIFE.

Like seriously if this was the president of a bank fucking some teller, who he is in charge of paying and promoting, no one would be confused why that banker should step down for abuse of power. The dude was president of the ENTIRE COUNTRY, and you can’t see how that’s abuse of power?

Like fuck Newt but also fuck Clinton who was buddies with Epstein. And him leaving his wife who had cancer is EGREGIOUS.

Eta: Lemmy is full of rapist apologists I guess. If you can’t understand how consent is VITAL and how it makes a world of difference, I hope you live a life being treated exactly how you treat others and women. There’s a man out there who will treat you, as a man, the same way. Good luck.

That is absolutely not what Clinton was impeached for.

The investigation in to Clinton began before he’d ever met Lewinsky, and it was over some real estate dealings. Because Clinton had not actually committed an impeachable offense, Ken Starr had to keep going back to Congress to ask for a wider scope.

The investigation took so long that after it began, Lewinsky was hired, Clinton won a re-election, there was sexual activity, word got out about it, and then Clinton lied about it under oath during a completely different deposition regarding a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Paula Jones, which is what he was ultimately impeached for.

It wasn’t the affair or the harassment, it was the lie, and it was only the lie because they were absolutely desperate to impeach Clinton for anything by that point.

It remains that the problem with the Monica Lewinsky relationship is that Clinton had power over her, not that he simply cheated. It added validity to the other sexual harassment claims because it was also a clear case of sexual harassment.

I was quoting the other person about what specifically caused his impeachment. Regardless of the exact moment that caused it, the issue with Lewinsky remains as I’ve explained it: an abuse of power. It’s not that he “got impeached for a blowjob” or for cheating and when people phrase it like that, they are dismissing and ignoring the real concerns regarding abuse of power.

The point of the comment you’re replying to isn’t to excuse Bill Clinton, it’s to point out Newt Gingrich’s hypocrisy.

while impeaching Bill Clinton for having an affair,

Okay can we stop with the whole “Clinton was impeached for an affair.”

See how this is the comment I took issue with and that’s what I started my comment with? Calling it an affair negates the abuse of power involved. As I explained ad nauseum. Just because you’re a man who doesn’t like respecting women, doesn’t mean I’ve been extremely clear.

But it wasn’t just an affair. It was an abuse of power. Afaik Newt wasn’t having an affair with a staffer. So it’s a false equivalence, you acorn.

LOL, I love that these fuckers are showing their true colors.

After all the bullshit talk about “TRUE conservatism” and how donnie is not “really” Republicanism…lol, no, donnie is the party and donnie is the party. It’s all one big pile of grievance politics and about keeping special privileges for xtian white cishet right wing males.

Meanwhile, I saw Megyn Kelly on Maher and her justification for voting for donnie involves two specters, it seems - the fear of 20 million “illegals” and “what THEY are doing to the kids in the name of trans”.

Seriously, WTAF. The bullshit whipped over illegals is way out of proportion and how is something like trans a concern for the PRESIDENT to handle, anyway?

Gingrich, who had an affair during his second marriage, then held Democrats responsible for America’s moral degeneration.

Decent journalistic integrity to point this out, but really should be in the headline.

Seriously, this same bunch has been bitching over women getting the vote, being able to drive, owning land, having a bank account (w/o male approval), no fault divorce, abortion, birth control for decades. Often this was done quietly, or if in a mixed setting, it was done as a “ha ha can’t you take a JOKE?” kind of way.

Now they have stolen abortion rights and in the process the corrupted qons on the “supreme” court indicated they want to do something not only about Teh Gheyz, but also about birth control. And now several of them are being much more open about their hostility to no fault divorce. And unlike in the past, it’s not the geriatrics that were older than the boomers; I hear this shit coming of Gen Z and Gen Y age people…we should believe them when they say this is their intent.

A lot of qons would constantly clutch their pearls and try to get me silenced when I spoke about the xtian taliban. They were only so mad because THEY KNOW IT IS TRUE. The xtian taliban is a thing and other than bullshit doctrinal differences no one outside their little book clubs give a flying fuck about, THEY ARE THE SAME EXACT THING as Islamist extremists. Just because they are not allowed to murder gays and women right now doesn’t mean they get any special points.

Throughout his congressional campaign in 1974, Gingrich was having an affair with a young volunteer. An aide who worked with Gingrich throughout the 1970s stated that “it was common knowledge that Newt was involved with other women during his marriage to Jackie.”

In September 1980, according to friends who knew them both, Newt visited Jackie in the hospital the day after she had undergone surgery to treat her uterine cancer; once there, Newt began talking about the terms of their divorce, at which point Jackie threw him out of the room

In 1993, while still married to Marianne, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, more than two decades his junior.[278] Gingrich was having this affair even as he led the impeachment of Bill Clinton for perjury related to Clinton’s own extramarital affair.[279][128] Gingrich filed for divorce from Marianne in 1999, a few months after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

      Sauce: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_Gingrich

My stepmother was doing her undergrad (and a few years later her law degree) from the University of West Georgia when he was a professor of history there and had started his first congressional campaign. She said literally every woman in school was aware of his affairs with students.

Moral decay in 2024? This is just yet another year of accusations fueled by projection from the right.

Not to belabor the truism that Gingrich is pure scum, but he’s a relevant point in the argument for an age-cap on voting rights.

Hit 70, you’re done. Go find something else to do, the needs and wants of the Nation are no longer your purview.

I see what you’re getting at, but we need to be careful here as we’ll be 70 too at some point.

Under that precedent, gen-Alpha conservicans would likely unanimously vote to have us all thrown into the sea to save on healthcare costs or something. Lmao

Yes, and when I and you, and anyone else hits 70, then their time influencing the future is over. That’s a ballgame, folks.

It’s nothing but pure fucking hubris that keeps these antideluvian fossils in their power stations. Society does not benefit. In fact, progress is constrained as a result.

So yeah, we will all be old one day. But that doesn’t mean we’re all destined to be sad old narcissists.

So yeah, we will all be old one day. But that doesn’t mean we’re all destined to be sad old narcissists.

Right! Of course not! My point is that in this case, age isn’t the problem, it’s still just narcissistic power hungry jerks voting. They just so happen to curse us with their longevity.

So taking voting rights away for all after a certain age wouldn’t serve us, but if overall we keep voting in altruistic ways, we can still do a lot of good into our later years.

If you mean they shouldn’t be in office calling the shots for us at that age though, I TOTALLY agree.

I think more people will trend against that with time, and we will kill the “you lean more right with age” myth once and for all. :)

Wishing you a long and prosperous life, BTW. <3
