I have degoogled but I find myself missing Google Wallet/Pay despite it being the worst spyware there is. I would like to have both my bus pass and card available on my phone in case I ever get stranded with out either. I’ve found this app but when trying to emulate a MiFare Classic, it emulated a MiFare Plus and when attempting to emulate a Visa or MasterCard, it just errors out and says to please insert the card.
I presume I need some sort of sniffer hardware like a Proxmark3 to get as much data off the cards as possible, though I’m not really sure how to get the data from there to an emulator on my phone with the intention of out and about.
Please only reply with genuine answers. Any shit about ToS or poor security etc. will be ignored.
You’re not gonna have much luck. If you’re able to clone these kind of cards, its an honest security vulnerability and should be reported.
As an alternative, I’ve seen people suggest using a smartwatch, like the Garmin ones, that have a “wallet”.
You aren’t going to be able to get any crypto keys out of an EMV card. They are actually secure. GPay works by registering a separate virtual card through an API.
The thing is if you degoogled for privacy, then I would say stop paying with any and all card as these are heavily tracked by anybody and everybody. Instead, opt for paying cash
This is what the last sentence in my post was about; I shouldn’t have to include it. Please try to refrain from doing it in future as it perpetuates the toxicity that Reddit had (and still has) a reputation for. Its fine to pass over a post if you don’t know the answer. It is also fine to pass over a post if you would never find an answer useful.
That being said, since COVID lockdowns were lifted, a hell of a lot of places have become card only, making it necessary to carry one. Some people may have the privileges to be able to use cash whenever they want, but not everyone can. There are places where disability benefits disallow you from taking out the money you receive as cash; I think this is some sort of war on drugs thing. Another reason is that women’s clothing is quite infamously lacking pockets.
I think this is some sort of war on drugs thing.
Nah, just a war on your privacy, really.
women’s clothing is quite infamously lacking pockets.
Hence women’s purses.
You know what else there’s a lot of on Reddit as well? Douche nozzles that think that an online discussion forum is subjected to their whims.
What you want is not possible. There. You can go away now because this is the only valid response here. If you find out how to do it you’ll be rich though so, good luck!👍

How is Google wallet the worst spyware? I’m not aware of anything particularly nefarious it’s doing
By paying with Google wallet, Google knows exactly what you bought, at which store, and even at what time.
No they don’t. They know how much you spent, when and where. They have no idea what you bought, except it’s something that is traded at wherever location.
You have to realise that it’s easier to believe “Google is spying on your card usage” than actually doing any research or understanding how the technology works. This is the internet after all.
Google’s Gemini AI says they know the details of the transactions. The link Google provided as a source was this which says they collect your data:
They still don’t get a list of items you bought. Is running a request for payment, it’s not billing a list of stuff.
Okay but how is it spyware
The dictionary definition:
“software that enables a user to obtain covert information about another’s computer activities by transmitting data covertly from their hard drive.”
Just because a program tells you it’s collecting your data in the fine print doesn’t mean it’s not spyware.
Is it covert if you know it’s happening and have agreed to it?
you need to get a different device. As others suggested a watch is your best bet but dont expect those options to respect your privacy any more or less than google.
