Everyone freaking out about how late in the race this is.

There’s over 100 days left in the cycle.

Most countries’ entire campaign season is 2-3 weeks.

We need to start trimming this shit down.

Long cycles is a strategy of the institutional parties. Both sides in the US. It’s endlessly tiring by design, so that no one fatal campaign misstep/flaw can tank the whole platform.

I agree, we need to bring it back to at least a few months instead of 2+ years.

No one fatal misstep tanks it in other countries. 'Member Trudeau black face?

No, this exists to feed your fucking ridiculous 24 hr news networks - they need as much drama as they can get.

Exactly! The most recent UK general election cycle was only 45 days long (May 22nd when Sunak announced the election date, to July 5th which was the day after election day). Arguably it was actually only 44 days, but I threw in an extra day at the end for good measure. Compared to that 100 days is an age.
