I’m with you on the rest, but swearing never hurt anyone and continuing to pretend otherwise in 2024 is some 1980s Satanic Panic sized bullshit.

It’s still probably not best to not model disrespectful and irreverent language to impressionable kids until they learn the social skills of when it is and isn’t appropriate. I don’t want Bluey to tell her dad to “Fuck off wanker”

Prepared to get downvoted my friend, according to some lemmings, you should have atleast 1 swear word every sentence, and if you say otherwise you are violating ‘freedom of speech’

Well you don’t want kids always swearing left right and center either, I don’t know to how much extent banning videos with f words for kids help but I (no joke) never heard of any (big) swear words by my parents or on my phone, and it does help me in formal situations unlike some of my friends, No one is gonna call you out for dropping a mother F bomb in front of a professor but it’s definitely not ideal.

Yeah I do. That would be much better than needlessly censoring the free expression of them and others based on 1950s notions of propriety 🤷

Well I am not gonna start an argument about whether swearing is morally acceptable or not on the internet.

Because there IS no argument for your side other than logical fallacies such as appeal to authority and the like.

No I am not gonna argue because I don’t give a fuck about what some random stranger’s thoughts on swearing are, you are trying to have one here, You can do whatever you want, I swear as well, but only when I need to give some extra weight to my statement, it’s just that you are painting your opinion as the absolute truth, when really this sort of issue depends upon a person’s beliefs and personality, there are no ‘facts’ here like you are trying here to say

How about I say that I am gonna drive a plane into a building, I could say in my defense that ‘It is freedom of expression’, but I will surely get in trouble and for good reason, I want you to prove logically with facts and statistics that swearing is better, then maybe I will change my opinion

Kids should be taught the difference between swearing and disrespectful swearing. My parents brought me up to never swear, even though I eventually learned the words and not to swear around them. It’s inevitable that kids will learn swear words but if you completely ignore the problem as a parent, that’s how rampant and disrespectful swearing starts.

I didn’t swear when I was young but I was certainly exposed to it. And believe it or not I can code switch seemlessly at work. People who know me personally would be so surprised to hear it.

I saw a video about animation on YouTube that added a gorey random scene from Invincible at the end to “unkids” the video.
