I’m going to start this article off by saying that you don’t have to be born in the boomer generation to be a boomer. You can be a boomer by acting like one. Hate new stuff? boomer. Run a desktop from the naughties? Boomer.

There’s new shit that kicks ass. There’s old shit that kicks ass. There’s new shit that sucks ass. There’s old shit that sucks ass.

New isn’t better than old. Neither is old better than new. Kicks ass is better than sucks ass.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk and get off my lawn!

There is new shit that is made to look like old shit. But it’s still new shit.

I’m sure tired of people acting like GTK2 was the best.

Calling the 2000s “the naughties” is some cringe level shit though. Also defining "boomer " to mean “whatever the fuck I want at any given moment” is borderline infantile.

Also calling your shitty blog post an “article.” Calling an article doesn’t suddenly raise it to the level of journalism. It’s still a shitpost on a blog.

What’s more Boomer shit than thinking you’re edgy and funny because you cuss a lot?

EDIT: Oh yeah, that’s what I forgot: Blatant self-promotion. That’s more Boomer shit than thinking you’re edgy and funny because you cuss a lot. Weren’t there rules against self-promotion on reddit subs? Let’s bring that back, please.

Gnome 3 came out and totally changed everything. I didn’t like it at first and I switched to KDE 4, like a mother fucker. People hated that shit too but whatever, those people are idiots.

Then MATE Desktop came out, and what does it look like today?

The fucking same shit from the naughties.

Anyone running MATE Desktop today is a Linux boomer.

That’s like saying anyone running the Chicago95 theme is a boomer.

You don’t need to gatekeep the bleeding edge.

Big fan of dash-to-panel on gnome 45 myself. I similarly use a tray icon extension but the name eludes me.

I tried to switch back to the mutter-vrr fork today with no luck. Very much looking forward to VRR in gnome + Wayland.
