No more Steam for Windows 7 8 holdouts.
I mean… Windows 10 came out -what?- 9 years ago at this point. Gee, I’m getting old
No, that doesn’t feel right. Windows 10 came out in 2015 and nine years ago, it was…
Oh god, no. When did the mid-2010s move so far into the past?
Just now, technically.
I switched to mint because ms won’t even let me upgrade to 11 if I wanted to. Other than some initial hurdles installing it, and losing some hd space because I kept windows on the other partition, it’s been fine. Proton and Wine are pretty low maintenance
I’ve got goofy Intel/NVIDIA switchable graphics in my laptop that make it a pain in the ass to use my VMs and steam. But I wouldn’t trade Mint for windows ever.
“upgrade to Linux to continue gaming”
If only they had figured out SteamOS…
I’ve been waiting since the first Steam Machines in 2011 to get steamOs. Best I can do is big picture mode.
@BrikoX I look forward to the removal of Windows 10 and 11 support next.
What makes you think they’d possibly do that?
/s
It ought to tell them to “upgrade to a more recent OS” instead of being Windows-centric.
Steam
Windows Centric
You do realize what platform/company we’re talking about, right?
Yes, we’re talking about Valve, which has a vested interest in pushing gamers towards Linux in order to protect itself from anti-competitive behavior by Microsoft.
I think that’s exactly their point. Why would Valve tell users to “upgrade” to a more recent version of Windows? Tell them to upgrade to Linux
But they’re using Windows. It isn’t telling this to Mac/Linux users.
