Wasn’t MediaTek abusing the GPL and bad for custom roms, meaning no aftermarket support possible for those devices?

I absolutely hate anything mediatek is involved with. Spent too many hours of my life working with a bunch of shit tablets with mediatek socs.

How repairable is the phone?
