It may not have withstood the test of time like Airplane! or Hot Shots!, but this is definitely still one of the best movies in the genre. But to be honest, Cary Elwes carries this entire movie. Dave Chappelle does a decent job but no more than that.
In this movie is a golden classic. Not quite as good as Spaceballs, but I mean that movie was a fucking comedy masterpiece.
I remember watching this as a teenager in the theatre, it was the best thing ever. Tried watching it again last year, and had to stop for how cringe it was. Better left to memories for me.
I will rewatch this forever! This is a GOAT comedy. What made you cringe? It is campy.
It’s a Mel Brooks movie, it’s par for the course. Next thing you’ll tell me the Carry On movies are cringe too.
I wouldn’t go that far. IMHO, Young Frankenstein is still as fresh as the day it was released.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Mel Brooks movies. But he has a unique sense of humour, and I can understand how some people would find it cringey.
Oh, absolutely no worries. Let’s just say that for me, what was fun when I was a teen (I’m in my 40s now) just isn’t the same now. Out of all of his movies the only one I have issues with is just Men in Tights.
I honestly don’t even know how to explain what the issue is, other than saying I find it cringey. Sorry. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nah, I watched blazing saddles for the first time a couple years ago and loved it and I rewatched it again this year and it was still funny.
I bought it and watch it every year.
"Wasn’t your… didn’t your mole used to be on the other side?
I have a MOLE?"
Not the best Mel Brooks movie, but it still hits hard.
I think it is the best Mel Brooks movie, personally. But that may be partially nostalgia.
“Because unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can actually speak in an English accent!”
Ah Mel Brooks being filthy on a PG rating.
I love this movie. As cheesy as it is hilarious. So full of great lines, it’s hard to pick a favourite. The title alone makes me laugh.
…if it were you, it would be twerrific!
