The fuck is this logic. They’re bugs, therefore not food? People eat them, so they are food by definition.
Plus people do eat bugs. It’s just that here most of our bugs are tiny and not really suitable for meals so we think of them as pests.
Small bugs should be eaten in portions of a few, just like shrimp. Unlike larger (water) bugs like lobsters, which can make up a whole meal.
idk man 🤔 people eat all sorts of things but that doesn’t make these things food “by definition”
Ok, so I hooked up with this wild wild wild girl. She wanted to come over and play Zombies Ate my Neighbors. I was about a year sober at this point. I was going to be careful careful.
She showed up with alcohol. At first I was like, “Nah, I’m not gonna drink.” But slowly, she got me there.
So I woke up the next morning with a smile on my face, stretched and yawned, and right in the middle of that yawn it dawned on me. “You did things with that Appalachian dope hooker that a man should only do with his wife!” It was like getting hit in the gut right in the middle of a yawn. That “ooouuuuuhwuh” action. You get it.
I panicked, went and got tested, and thank every fucking god ever worshipped by mankind I was clean.
This meme made me think of that. Gah.
Don’t drink and dopewhore. It could cost you your life. :p
Scarier thing to me is breaking sobriety… I can live a happy healthy life with an std… I can’t do that with drugs and alcohol… hope your doing well with sobriety and it was just a small hiccup friend!!!
I really really appreciate this comment.
I’ve been clean from opiates for almost a decade. I have found balance with alcohol. I went to AA for years so I know that most people can’t.
I banned liquor from my home and I have a few beers after work. I never take home more than I know I can handle.
Seriously, I appreciate how much you obviously care about someone you’ll probably never meet.
This little comment might mean more to me than any I’ve ever got from someone online.
You guys warm my heart. Lemmy is the kind Reddit.
YMMV but some stds are harder to quit than most addictions
Land bugs can be eaten, and can be delicious and nutritious
I remember reading once that eating insects would be more efficient than eating beef or meat from larger animals. We can harvest from large animals about 60 to 70 percent of their mass as protein … if we did the same for insects, over 90 percent of their mass would be protein.
You will eat the bugs, you will own nothing, and you will be happy
subscribe to bug apron for fresh, healthy, protein filled bug meals delivered right to your door.
I don’t know what’s in my food now, I own nothing now, and I’m not happy. I know this is some scaremongering quote, but how is it meant to instil fear when the status quo is already shit?
I honestly don’t see any problem with the last nine words as long as it’s the same for everyone
shrimp is bugs
Shrimps is bugs
Shromps is bugs
Shroomps oos boogs.
Bork! Bork! Bork!
But bugs are food…
Clams and oysters aren’t even arthropods, they’re mollusks. Not bug like at all.
Shrimps is bugs!! 🦐🐜
I’ve had a cricket taco once. It was at a really nice restaurant, too.
How did it taste? I had a tofu-mealworm burger patty once and it was actually quite good
It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t order it again. If I’m going to eat bugs I’d rather they be ground up and packed together. Or that they’re big enough that the meat can be removed from the shell like a shrimp. I’d try the tofu-mealworm burger.
More for me!
I wonder what land bugs taste like
Huhu grubs
People have told me both chicken and peanut butter.
I don’t get how there can be any ambiguity bergen those two tastes.
I’d try em!
Obviously, like land shrimps.
Los camarones saben bien.
Los chapulines son mejores.
Colorados?
The actual bug was enlarged. Have fun trying to eat the meat without the gross shell.
Washing and then toasting the bugs makes for a nice, clean and crunchy shell
Damn. If shrimp is a bug then I may have been missing out on trying other kinds.
Apparently tarantula taste like crab
I mean, who’s ever heard of getting pink eye underwater?
This is a man without trust issues.
